Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Caption Bounty. By using the service you agree to them and to our Official Rules and Privacy Policy.

Accounts

You must be 18 or older and verify a phone number. You’re responsible for activity on your account and for keeping it secure.

Your content & licenses

• You must own or have the rights to any image you upload, and to grant the licenses below.
• You grant Caption Bounty a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and promote the photos and captions you submit, in connection with operating and marketing the service.
• Captions must be human-made and original. We may remove content that violates these terms.

Payments

• Posters authorize payment of the prize plus the platform fee when funding a bounty.
• Prizes are paid to winners through Stripe; platform fees are non-refundable except as stated in the rules.
• Payment processing is provided by Stripe and subject to Stripe’s terms.

Acceptable use

Don’t manipulate voting, use multiple accounts, submit AI-generated captions, infringe others’ rights, or post unlawful or abusive content. We may suspend or remove accounts that do.

Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Caption Bounty disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Caption Bounty is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly. Our aggregate liability to you for any cause whatsoever shall not exceed the greater of (a) the platform fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) $100. You agree to indemnify and hold Caption Bounty harmless from claims arising out of your content or violation of these terms.

Changes & termination

We may update these terms at any time; we’ll post the effective date above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes follow the process in our Official Rules (binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Rules in San Francisco County, CA; small claims excepted; class actions waived).
